H.I.H. Prince Regent Nhiep Chinh Nguyen Phuc Buu Chanh of Vietnam




His Imperial Highness Prince Regent Nhiep Chinh Nguyen Phuc Buu Chanh of Vietnam, the Duke of Kien Hoa and Grand Master of the Imperial Order of the Dragon of Annam, was born in the Imperial City of Hue, Vietnam on Thursday 12 February 1942 [Lunar Year of the Snake].

Descended from the Imperial Family of Prince Kien Hoa - who was the 71st son of the Emperor Minh Mang - H.I.H. Prince Regent Nguyen Phuc Buu Chanh of Vietnam holds the same Imperial family Rank as the Emperor Khai Dinh [the late father of Emperor Bao Dai].

Educated at the Hue National High School in Vietnam, H.I.H. Prince Regent Nguyen Phuc Buu Chanh of Vietnam went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Literature from the Hue University; later obtaining Master's Degrees in Business Administration and Political Sciences from the Dalat University, Vietnam where he attended from 1964 to 1970.

At the end of the Vietnam War - and because of his staunch political views - H.I.H. Prince Regent Nguyen Phuc Buu Chanh of Vietnam was Exiled from Vietnam; so with his wife Phan Lien and their children he went to the United States of America.

Attending the Northeastern Illinois University from 1982 to 1984 - where he Majored in Information Sciences - H.I.H. Prince Regent Nguyen Phuc Buu Chanh of Vietnam obtained a Bachelor of Sciences Degree and Graduated with High Honors.

A fervent advocate for the restoration of dignity, Human Rights, Democracy, and a Constitutional Monarchy in Vietnam, H.I.H. Prince Regent Nguyen Phuc Buu Chanh of Vietnam founded the Vietnamese Constitutional Monarchist League in 1993; he is also the President of the Southeast Asia Imperial & Royal League, and Vice-Chairman of The British Committee for Free Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia & Burma.

The Republican Senatorial Medal of Freedom: U.S.A.

On 18 March 1994, "for distinction and achievement in helping to promote and perpetuate the ideals and principles of the Republican Party", H.I.H. Prince Regent Nguyen Phuc Buu Chanh of Vietnam was awarded the United States Republican Senatorial Medal of Freedom which is the highest and most prestigious award that Republican United States Senators can bestow on an individual.

Other notable recipients of the Republican Senatorial Medal of Freedon include: the former President of the United States of America, Ronald Reagan; the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Baroness Margaret Thatcher; the Co-Chairman of the Lao Movement for Democracy and Human Rights in Laos, Colonel Chao K. Nokham and the renowned film actor Charlton Heston.

Today, His Imperial Highness Prince Regent Nguyen Phuc Buu Chanh of Vietnam works vigorously and tirelessly with traditional Royal Families throughout Southeast Asia, High-Ranking Vietnamese Military Officers, Vietnamese Exiles, Representatives of all political persuasions, and with ardent supporters from all echelons of society around-the-World, in his advocacy for the restoration and advancement of Dignity, Human Rights, Democracy and a Constitutional Monarchy in Vietnam that would guarantee the Liberty and Rights of the Vietnamese people.
